Crest Nicholson CRST cuts full-year completions and swings guidance to a £10m EBIT loss, standing out on a day otherwise dominated by mixed results and steady M&A flow.
What UK Plc said today
The clearest negative is CRST: full-year completions cut to 1,350–1,400 from 1,400–1,500 and EBIT guidance moved from a £5–10m profit to a c.£10m loss, citing "more subdued" summer trading, affordability constraints and competitive pricing. Not a Tier A warning by classification, but the swing is material. SAFE also nudged expectations lower, guiding FY26 Adjusted Diluted EPRA EPS to the "lower half" of forecasts despite +4.1% CER Q3 revenue and continued UK/Expansion Market growth.
Against that, guidance upgrades were narrow but real. HFG raised FY26 adjusted PBT guidance to £66–71m (from £60–65m), attributing it to the Dalco divestment and FX, and maintained the interim at 10.1p; BRK flagged FY27 "marginally ahead," delivered a 21st consecutive year of dividend growth (83.0p), and returned to positive net flows (£226m vs £396m of outflows). WOSG reaffirmed and struck an "ahead" tone, with US strength and UK "signs of market improvement." EMAN reaffirmed guidance "marginally ahead of 2025" on +23.5% revenue but cautioned on Q4 exposure. ALFA reiterated full-year expectations even as statutory operating income fell 15% and gross margin dropped 400bps to 60.2%; ARR +17% and TCV +17% are the underlying story. ECEL cited Q2 momentum continuing into H2 and closed the ATT Fabrications deal.
Two names deferred or qualified: CAM pushed its full-year update to late October, flagging Kakuzi headwinds and Gulf disruption; ENQ narrowed production guidance to 41–43 Kboed after the Ninian Central Platform outage cost c.4,100 Boepd for six weeks, but reaffirmed the transformative Malaysia deal (completion 31 December 2026) that pushes group production above 100 Kboepd.

Themes
Housebuilder vs. discretionary consumer divergence. CRST flags affordability and price competition as biting through summer; meanwhile WOSG (luxury watches) says US trading is "strong" and UK is improving, and EMAN (cinemas) delivered +20.5% admissions and +60bps share gain. The UK consumer stress is concentrated in big-ticket housing decisions, not discretionary out-of-home spend.
Guidance dispersion is widening. Same trading day, opposite directions: HFG and BRK raising, CRST and SAFE cutting, CAM deferring, ENQ tightening. Reported organic growth is modest almost everywhere (ALFA +4%, ECEL +1%, HFG volumes +2.1%), and the delta between winners and losers is being driven by mix, M&A and cost actions rather than end-demand.
Geopolitics moving from disclosure boilerplate to P&L. HFG added an explicit new emerging risk on the Strait of Hormuz; CAM cited Red Sea transit disruption and the war in Iran directly against Kakuzi and cost lines. Worth watching how this language spreads in coming H1 filings.
M&A pipeline healthy at the top end. DEC's c.$1.8bn Elliott acquisition (Permian, ABS-funded) is classed transformative; ENQ's $833m Malaysia deal has cleared conditions; ECEL bolted on ATT for £5m. Capital is available for scaled operators.
