Headline
UK May GDP and services data land alongside a £4.1bn ABB bid for ROR and a rare downgrade at SHI, while consumer-facing names split sharply on demand.
What UK Plc said today
No profit warnings, but SHI is the clear negative: FY26 underlying operating profit guided down to c.£25m on "continuing challenging conditions" and poor weather, with a new £100m cash-generation plan targeting a £50m run-rate profit improvement by H1 2028. FOXT issued fresh guidance for H1 adjusted operating profit of c.£8.5m (vs £12.3m prior year) and a full-year £17-19m range, blaming "domestic political uncertainty and conflict in the Middle East" for lower transaction volumes. DFS echoed the theme — "notable softening" in H2 demand tied to the Iran War — but still landed FY PBT around £45m, within upgraded £43-50m guidance.
Against that, several names raised: DPLM lifted organic growth guidance to 14% (from 12%) and margin to c.26.5%; RFX took FY26 PBT guidance to £32-35m on record June pawnbroking lending amid a high gold price; SOM said FY26 revenue will beat expectations as US non-residential construction stabilises; SHOE narrowed FY loss guidance to no worse than £1.0m. CAPD delivered a record $117.3m Q2 (+34%); TRST posted 18% cc bookings growth citing AI as a "significant tailwind"; FCH revenue rose c.50% to £138m. DNLM traded in line with strong Summer Living sell-through; EXPN, QQ., PFD and SSE all reaffirmed. FRAS withheld FY27 guidance citing live [HUGO BOSS] and [Accent Group] offers; APBT fell 4.0% to £538m as UK Sports revenue declined 4.7%.

Defence tailwinds remain intact — QQ. cites the UK Defence Investment Plan and NATO Summit; MSI flags first Middle East Multi Weapon Station contract despite procurement delays.
