Headline
No UK profit warning today; the standout signal is WISE raising FY27 net revenue guidance to the upper half of its 15-20% range on strong cross-border volumes.
What UK Plc said today
No profit warnings in today's flow. The strongest concrete signal came from WISE, which raised FY27 guidance: net revenue growth now expected in the upper half (17.5-20%) of its 15-20% medium-term range, with Q2 revenue of $739.1m (+21% YoY), cross-border volume +22% to $71.7bn, active customers +20% to 12.5m, and IBT margin guided "around the top" of the 20-25% range. Pricing discipline held — 49bps average, 78% of transfers instant.
Elsewhere in trading updates, tone skewed constructive: EMG flagged Q3 as "ahead" (no numbers disclosed); STCM delivered Q3 revenue of KZT 21,824m (USD 47.2m, +19% YoY) with its expansion project "on time and budget"; Kazakh domestic cement demand is tracking broadly flat at ~14.5mt for the full year. EVOK's Q3 content was not readable in the source and is omitted.
Results were dominated by closed-end funds. JUGI delivered a +7.2% NAV total return, lifted FY27 dividend intention 2.8% to 14.92p, and remains geared on the view that "UK mid and small caps remain very cheap relative to their own history, and relative to the FTSE 100." FAS posted +6.1% NAV total return and raised its final dividend 7.3%. FKE grew client AUM/A past £1bn for the first time, with management fees +5.1%, but statutory operating income was just £316k as it works through a Section 166 FCA remediation programme. SORT is the stress case: now an AIM Rule 15 cash shell after disposing of its principal subsidiary for £1, with a six-month reverse-takeover deadline from 20 October 2026 and material going-concern uncertainty.
Capital actions were heavy but mostly routine. The transformative item was NOG's completed US$304.6m disposal of Kazakhstan operations to Altaris, enabling full redemption of its Senior Secured Notes and concluding a 30-year presence. ROAD saw a £6.5m bookbuild of existing shares with Tarncourt (CEO-controlled) buying in parallel to keep the concert party above 50%. OOA and OSEC confirmed merger discussions between Octopus AIM VCT and Octopus AIM VCT 2 to build scale and cost synergies.

Policy / monetary
Light calendar. [BoE] published minutes of its Banknote Imagery Advisory Group (15 July 2026) — operational, not monetary. HMT issued the force-of-law notice and reference document for the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, relevant for UK importers of carbon-intensive goods and worth noting for sectors with embedded-emissions exposure.
Themes
UK small- and mid-cap undervaluation is a recurring thread: JUGI stays geared explicitly on that view, and the volume of VCT consolidation (OOA/OSEC) alongside closed-end fund NAV-accretive buybacks (FAS, JUGI) point to managers using discounts and M&A as their primary alpha source rather than top-down growth bets.
Risk language is quietly hardening at the fund level. JUGI newly classified AI as a principal risk and heightened its economic and geopolitical risk ratings — a shift worth tracking as it comes from a UK smaller-companies manager, not a global macro vehicle.
